Newspaper Article Dated October 1976.
Some people even on short acquaintance, leave
an indelible impression on those they meet. Lisa Peak (that's how she signed her
name to her articles) was that kind of person.
She made an impression in her journalism
class at Warthurg, where as a freshman last year she demonstrated a definite flair
for feature writing.. particularly stories about other people. Several of her articles
wer printed by the student newspaper, The Trumpet and also reprinted by The Waverly
Newspapers.
Her journalism teacher was excited by her writing potential. During
last May Term she worked out of the Waverly and Clarksville newspaper offices, preparing
a Bicentennial edition for the Clarksville Star. The staff at the newspaper became
her friends. Her manner was breezy, happy, enthusiastic and friendly wherever she
went. She was interested in learning about her chosen trade writing and about the
other aspects of print production.
Because of her open friendly approach those she
met were first taken with her lively personality and secondly realized she was also
a very attractive young woman. She enjoyed the challenge of a story, she enjoyed
people, she enjoyed life. And that makes her loss that much more tragic.
