Robert Merrill (Bobby) Koons

Services for Robert Merrill (Bobby) Koons, 38, of Knoxville, who passed away April 29, 1992 at Knoxville Area Community Hospital were held May 4 at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery. Rev. Philip Cardenzana officiated at the services. Music was provided by Merrill Womach.

Casketbearers were Paul Wheeland, Tommy DeMoss, Randy Koons, David Bennett, Lonnie Koons and Gary Fuller.

Bobby was born on Feb. 9, 1954 in Oskaloosa, the son of Howard and Hildreth Willey Koons. He attended Knoxville School and Des Moines Area Community College. He served with the United States Army from 1971 to 1973.

Bobby married Theresa Jones on Oct. 22, 1971 in Unionville, Mo. They have lived in Knoxville their entire married life. Bobby was employed by the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville for ten years, first as a registered nurse and for the past two years in the engineering department.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one infant brother.

He is survived by his wife of Knoxville; two daughters, Joey Ann and Robbie Jean, both of Knoxville; four brothers, Marion of Dora, Mo., Norman of Pleasantville, Leland of Tracy and Lyle of Knoxville; six sisters and their husbands, Connie and Charles Dunfree, Phyllis and LeRoy Clare both of Tucson, Ariz., Carley DeMoss of Des Moines, Gwen and Charles Bly of Swan, Karen and Jack Heaton and Correne and Randy Bennett both of Knoxville and many other relatives and friends
