Gary Quentin Carruthers

Gary Q. Carruthers was born January 17, 1947 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Forest Quentin and Theo Margaruite Whitlatch Carruthers. Gary passed away April 19, 2004 of a sudden heart attack in Des Moines at the age of 57.

Gary was united in marriage to Donna Book on November 27, 1965 and they were blessed with four children; Kathy, Clint, Quentin, and Charles.

Gary was the owner and operator of South Central Steel Erectors and belonged to Local 67 Iron Workers and the Local 234 Operators Union. He has done a little bit of everything - farmer, painter, sand blaster, tree trimmer, and shingler to name a few. He enjoyed working with his hands. He especially enjoyed working with his D9 Dozer, doing all kinds of work to his farm and for others. He also enjoyed his family, friends and coffee time.

Gary is survived by his wife Donna; Children; Kathy Gamble and husband Allan; Clint and wife Angela; Quentin, and Charles; his grandchildren: John, Corey and Hailey Gamble, Preston and Trenton Carruthers. Also surviving are his brothers; Frank and wife Sherry, Larry and wife Ruth, and a sister Margaret Carruthers.
