Meeting Minutes for August 17, 2011
Pennie Sommar called the meeting to order on August 17, 2011 at Swamp Fox.
Homecoming Update:
TPennie shared copies of the Knoxville Alumni invitation letter to go out to alumni on the website and Facebook. The letter was prepared by David Hoch at Iowa State Savings Bank. The letter was reviewed by those at the meeting, small changes and corrections were made and the final copy will be prepared tomorrow.
Pizza Hut will provide menus for lunch delivery at Dyer Hudson beginning at 11:00 am.
Rib Shack will provide a buffet for supper from 4:00 to 6:30.
The dance will begin at 8:00 and last till 12:30. Tickets will be $10 each.
Drink tickets will be $1.00 each. Pop and water will be 1 ticket, and beer and coolers will be 3 tickets each.
Pennie will check into the possibility of purchasing another gambling license in order to raffle the SOS quilt that was generously donated back to SOS last year.
Pennie suggested that everyone who paid for their annual $25 membership be placed in a drawing for a free lifetime membership. All present agreed to the suggestion.
Annual Alumni Meeting:
The meeting and brunch will again be held at the KHS Commons at 10:30 am on September 24, 2011. Cost will be $8 for non-members. The class with the most members present at the meeting will have a scholarship named after their class in May, 2012.
New Business:
Randy Wilson contacted Pennie with the name of the student that will wear the #39 Ken Locke memorial jersey this season.
As the first football game on August 26th football game is an away game at PCM, and the first home game is with Pella on September 2, clean-up night at the stadium was moved to Wednesday, August 31 at 5:00 pm. Volunteers are asked to bring items such as brooms, dust pans, blowers, and garbage bags.
Pennie asked if there was any further business. There was none. The meeting was
adjourned. The next regular meeting will be held on September 14, 2011 at 6:00 PM at Swamp Fox.
