Meeting Minutes for July 13, 2011
Pennie Sommar called the meeting to order on July 13, 2011 at Swamp Fox.
Knoxville Alumni Association Board Meeting Summary:Pennie has informed
Ken Locke’s sister, Janice Welch that KAA has named their endowed scholarship the
“Knoxville Alumni Association Ken Locke Memorial Scholarship”, and Dollars For Scholars
will be notified next May. $536 was collected from pop can redemptions for the month
of June.
Dodge/Motor Inn Promotion:
Pennie said that the check for $3,040.00 was received from Dodge today and there
will be a presentation picture in the Knoxville Journal-Express. Proceeds from the
promotion, including dunk tank, face painting, and bake sale totaled over $5000.00.
Stadium Update:
Pennie reported that the K Club bricks have been engraved and delivered, and Dennis
Shaukster should begin on the Historical Plaque monument next week. There was a
discussion about lighting over the monument, but that will wait until after the
stadium seat repairs are completed to see if there would be enough funding for a
light. The KAA Board accepted a bid from CK Fairco of Winterset to complete the
seating improvements, including fixing the front rows on the Home side and tuck
pointing the seats on the Visitor’s side. The Annual Stadium Clean-Up has been set
