Meeting Minutes for November 10, 2010
Pennie Sommar called the meeting to order on November 10, 2010 at Swamp Fox.
Knoxville Alumni Association Board Meeting Summary:
Coach Jim Uitermarkt had contacted Terry to see if KAA Alumni would be interested in playing Alumni basketball games the afternoon of the Coaches for Cancer games, on February 2. Alumni would contribute $20 each to play, which would be donated to the American Cancer Society. Contact will be made with alumni via the internet to generate volunteer players for the event.
Treasurer’s Report:
There is currently about $102,000 in the SOS account; however, outstanding bills
will almost deplete the account when paid. Pending bills include construction for
half of the 200 new north side seats; fencing; and half of the bill for the Historical
Plaque. $625 was collected from pop can redemptions for the month of October.
Stadium Update:
The caulking under the new seats has been completed. The black webbing still needs to be put in the SW corner of the fencing behind the historical plaque location. Pennie has ordered the plaque, and the bricklayer will obtain the bricks.
Current Events Update:
Discussion was held regarding participation in Living Windows on November 18. KAA/SOS
will use the east half of the former Hallmark building. Decorating will begin at
5:00 pm Dec. 17, and Living Windows begins at 5:30 on Dec. 18. Regular and decaf
coffee and cookies will be available, and the SOS scrapbooks will be on display.
Pennie and Connie have purchased ornaments for a tree provided by Terry and Dianna
Edwards. Raffle tickets for the tree will be sold for $5 each or 5 for $20. Membership
and brick forms will be available. Dawna Larson and Judy Fee are calling volunteers
to provide cookies and help that night.
Bryan Schlotterback will submit his donations from his 24 hour run later this month.
New Business:
Discussion was held regarding the website, and encouraging its use by everyone as
a source of information and events.
Pennie asked if there was any further business. There was none. The meeting was
adjourned. The next meeting will be held on December 8, 2010 at 6:30 PM at
Swamp Fox.
