Meeting Minutes for September 8, 2010
Pennie Sommar called the meeting to order on September 8, 2010 at Swamp Fox.
Knoxville Alumni Association Board Meeting Summary:
Pennie gave an estimated summary of expenses for current renovations to the stadium:

This would leave a balance of less than $10,000 in the SOS account. Additional funds
would have to be raised by next spring for additional seating on the south side
of the home side and for a new retaining wall in the NW corner. The new seats and
sod should be done by Homecoming.
Current Events Update:
Pat said that we will begin decorating Dyer Hudson Hall on Wednesday night at 5:30
pm – all help welcome! Lorna Thomas will sell tickets to the football game during
the lunch at Dyer Hudson. Class Reunion line-up at the stadium is at 6:30 pm. The
Girl’s Basketball teams that have gone to State over the years will be honored.
The poolhouse building will be open for alumni to gather if they wish. The Alumni
Annual Meeting will be Saturday morning, 10:30 am at the KHS Commons.
Special Guest: KHS football coach Troy Rider talked
about his emphasis on building character in the football players and holding them
responsible for alcohol or tobacco problems and for low grades. They will also be
on a point system for requirements such as weight room attendance. He has set up
the “Pillar Club” to be awarded at home games to qualifying players, that will include
gifts and scholarships.
Pennie asked if there was any further business. There was none. The meeting was
adjourned. The next meeting will be held on October 13, 2010 at 6:30 PM at
Swamp Fox.
