Meeting Minutes for September 14, 2011
Pennie Sommar called the meeting to order on September 14, 2011 at Swamp Fox.
Knoxville Alumni Association Board Meeting Summary:
Terry Edwards reported that the board was interested in creating a KAA Advisory Board consisting of non-local members for additional input, with no voting rights. Members would serve 1 year terms and could serve for an unlimited number of years.
Terry also reported that the Knoxville Alumni Association currently has very low membership, and the board is very concerned that the association may not have the funds to continue. If that were the case, according to the by-laws, any remaining funds would be contributed to the KAA Ken Locke Memorial endowed scholarship through Dollars for Scholars.
Current Event Update:
The Old Junior High is in the process of being demolished. KAA will be selling bricks for $1.00 each.
Homecoming:
Name tags and tickets have been printed for the dance and dinner.
Set-up at Dyer Hudson will begin at 5:00 on Wednesday, September 21.
KAA will not be required to pay for clean-up as there is a wedding the next day who will be using the tables and chairs.
Everyone signing up for KAA membership for the next year will have a chance to win a free Lifetime Membership.
Pizza Hut will provide menus for lunch delivery at Dyer Hudson beginning at 11:00 am.
Rib Shack will provide a buffet for supper for $8.00 from 4:00 to 6:30. They will also provide supplies to serve Nachos with cheese and pulled pork after the game for $3.00 each.
The dance will begin at 8:00 and last till 12:30. Tickets will be $10 each. The riser for DJ Adam Lucas is at Dyer Hudson.
Drink tickets will be $1.00 each. Pop and water will be 1 ticket, and beer and coolers will be 3 tickets each.
The Camera Club will not be taking pictures this year, so Ruby or Studio 92 Photography (Robyn Richardson King) will be contacted.
Angie Uitermarkt and Jeri Uitermarkt reported that they have lined up most of their workers.
Pennie asked if there was any further business. There was none. The meeting was
adjourned. The next regular meeting will be held on October 12, 2011 at 6:00 PM at Swamp Fox.
