Meeting Minutes for November 11, 2009
Knoxville Alumni Association Board Meeting Summary:
Board President Terry Edwards introduced guests Bryan Schlotterback and daughter Haley. He also reported that the new KHS liaisons this year will be
Lacy Stevenson and Tyler Walker, and that Lacy was present at the meeting November 4.
Report:
Pennie reported that the current SOS balance is $147,000.00.
Current Events Update:
Bryan Schlotterback announced that in addition to the $300 already donated by Hormel, they have committed another $1500, which should bring the total for this year’s run to approximately $7500. A check presentation will be made at a home basketball game.
Pennie stated that the next goals for the SOS project are the addition of 200 seats on each side of the current seats on the Home side; and new fencing around the stadium.
She also stated that Randy Wilson had approached the Alumni Board about possibly making Ken Locke’s jersey #39 a Living Legacy to be worn each year by one player selected by the coaching staff. Randy will approach the board later with additional details.
SOS will have a Living Window on November 19 in the former Schmaltz’s building which is currently being remodeled into a new Taso’s restaurant. Pennie and Connie purchased a prelit tree which will be decorated in black and gold, and a $5 donation to SOS will put the donor’s name in for a drawing for the tree, to be announced after the Festival of Trees event at Marion County Park the following weekend.
Linda Hicks reported that the Antique Roadshow event will be at the Marion County Fairgrounds Show Barn on April 24, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Items to be appraised will be $6.00 each, or 3 for $15. Cookies and bars will also be sold as a fundraiser.
Pennie asked if there was any further business. There was none. The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held on December 9, 2009 at 6:30 PM at Swamp Fox.
